Seventeen works in which the structure is fixed before the colour is chosen — planes, seams and cut shapes, with at most one incident allowed per sheet. The earliest of the three groups and the most severe. Mounted on aluminium, in editions of fifteen.
The order is the constraint. Structure first, colour afterwards, and at most one incident per sheet: a circle, a seam, a mark that arrives late. Where a work in this group looks crowded it is because the structure allowed it, not because the rule was set aside.
This is the earliest of the three groups and the most severe, and the aluminium mount belongs to that severity — no glass, no mount board, the panel standing off the wall on a subframe. Seventeen works, in editions of fifteen.
